PYPX News

The children have had a busy week, working on their PYP Exhibition Process. They have worked together in groups exploring a transdisciplinary theme and presenting a five minute lesson on their given theme.

This group presented a lesson on Sharing the Planet. They presented their ideas and then encouraged discussion and thinking with a quiz.

This group presented a lesson on How we Express Ourselves. They presented their ideas using Prezi and gave the class time to discuss the theme.

This group presented a lesson on the theme How the World Works. They presented their ideas using pictures and discussions, asking questions as they went.

This group presented a lesson on the theme Where we are in Place and Time. They used tripline.net to show how they were connected through migration and performed a short skit on discovery.

This group presented a lesson on How we Organise Ourselves. They used Prezi to show their thinking and then gave the class a picture sorting activity to show what the theme means.

This group presented a lesson on Who We Are. They presented information about themselves based on the ideas within the theme. They asked the class to make a mind map about themselves.

Each lesson was very successful, promoting discussion and critical thinking. The children have also focussed on real life issues from local issues at ISD to global issues. They have met their mentors and talked through the process so far. They have explored our overarching central idea:
We can make a difference to real life issues.
They have thought about issues that really matter to them, linked them to one of the six transdisciplinary themes and begun to think about developing their own central ideas. They have worked so hard, using their thinking skills, to develop their ideas.

After Ski Week they will complete their central ideas and inquiry questions, before moving into the inquiry phase of the PYPX.

Have a relaxing and enjoyable Ski Week. We are back on Tuesday March 15th.
