The children worked hard on the bids and I am currently looking through them to check accuracy of measurement. We have also focussed on multiplication of two and three digit numbers particularly and have used the grid strategy, amongst others, to solve the problems. The children have also been working in groups to explain the following words:
history the past beginning future choices accomplishments achievements reflecting responsibility transition initiative aesthetics citizens
They used dictionaries and discussed their understanding of the words before planning a presentation together. They worked together to present a selection of the words to show their understanding and to explain their words to the whole class.
Today they presented their ideas to the class.

The words are key words in our new unit. The children are thinking about transition, about their past achievements and about their futures. The central idea of our new unit is
Recognising accomplishments leads to new beginnings.
They have worked together to discuss the skills, knowledge and qualities that they have already that will help them as they move on to the Senior School. The children will be working on planning and producing the Farewell Assembly on 9th June. Parents are, of course, invited to the Grade 5 Farewell Assembly which takes place during the first two periods of the school day.
