We do hope that you have had a relaxing holiday. We were very pleased to see everyone this morning. The children were very happy to see each other again and have spent time talking and writing about their holidays. In Maths they have been reviewing the 4 operations of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. They have solved various problems in two ways and sealed the strategies in envelopes. Tomorrow we will open the envelopes and discuss the various strategies used (a great way of getting the class to explain their understanding and use Mathematical language and reasoning). The children have also spent time working on their bids and should finish this week. We also have had a brief discussion about our new unit of Inquiry (details to follow).
We can't believe that we only have 6 weeks left until 5.3 leave to become 6th graders. Over the coming weeks they will visit the Senior School and take part in various activities to support their transition. I will post the details of these events when I have confirmation of the dates.
Even though we have only 6 weeks left there is lots to do. We look forward to working with the children as they continue to develop their learning and understanding, gaining new knowledge and skills along the way.
