More about the Provocation and Maths (and the Maths workshop next week).

There were 6 "rooms" and each room reflected an area of the Curriculum. Activities were set up in each room and the children were invited to join in. After 20 minutes in each room the children wrote on an exit card; they wrote about what they thought the room was about and how they had felt during the activities. Later, during reflection time, the children worked out that each room represented one of the Transdisciplinary themes: Where we are in place and time, How the world works, How we organise ourselves, How we express ourselves, Who we are and Sharing the Planet.

Our classroom was the work space for How we express ourselves. This theme is an inquiry into the ways in which we discover and express ideas, feelings, nature, culture, beliefs and values; the ways we reflect on, extend and enjoy our creativity and our appreciation of the aesthetic. The children had many different activities to enjoy:

Outside, under the theme of How we organise ourselves the children were asked to build a tent, a chair and a inflate a blow up mattress.

The children worked through the other rooms, experiencing a lot! Ask them to tell you all about it!

In Maths the children have continued with work on fractions and have developed a game ('Follow Me') that practises fractions, decimals, percentages, and the four operations of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
