We also visited the Senior School for our provocation. Watch the video to see what happened! We heard about thermo forming and thermo setting plastics. Many thanks to Mr. Livingstone for showing this to us.

Motivation!
What a day! In Literacy this morning we listened to a story about Jaz, a girl, and ElFi, an Artificial Intelligence model. Elfi was trying to understand what school is and wanted to learn about learning. Over the coming weeks we will be using these characters to continue to develop our thinking skills. We will explore motivation, confidence, memory and talking in different situations, to name but a few. The children had the idea to develop their own Artificial Intelligence models. Today they have been showing their ability to plan, negotiate and use their strengths as they worked in groups. The children have been measuring, building electric circuits and using microphones to record speech for their Artificial Intelligence models. These activities have formed part of the transition from Unit 1 to Unit 2. Unit 2 is Science based and our new Maths unit, starting next week, is based on measurement and shape.

It is great to see the kids literally thinking on their feet - what I like best about both the pictures and the text here, but particularly the pictures, is that it is easy to see how focused and involved the kids are, and that they're working, planning and constructing together.
ReplyDeleteIt is so much fun! Also spraying the robots!
